Company Overview
About Grover
Grover is a consumer technology rental platform that enables individuals and businesses to subscribe to smartphones, laptops, tablets, cameras, gaming equipment, and other devices on a monthly basis rather than purchasing them outright. Subscribers select a rental period of one to 36 months, receive quality-checked devices (new or like-new), and benefit from comprehensive damage coverage through Grover Care. At the end of the rental term, customers can return the device, extend their subscription, or buy the product at a discounted market value — creating a circular economy loop where Grover refurbishes and recirculates returned hardware.
Business Model & Competitive Advantage
Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Berlin, Grover operates across Germany, the United States, Austria, the Netherlands, and Spain. The company has accumulated more than €1.4 billion in total financing volume across equity and debt rounds from investors and lenders including Circularity Capital, M&G Investments, and Deutsche Bank. Its most recent round was a €50 million bridge financing in July 2024. Grover employs more than 300 people and is recognized as one of Europe's fastest-growing scale-ups in the consumer subscription economy. The company completed executive team buildout in early 2026, naming new CFO and CCO roles to execute its international growth strategy.
Competitive Landscape 2025–2026
Grover's business model aligns with the growing consumer preference for access over ownership, particularly among younger demographics who value flexibility, sustainability, and lower upfront costs. By keeping devices in circulation longer, Grover reduces e-waste relative to traditional buy-and-discard patterns. The platform competes with consumer electronics financing products from carriers and retailers but differentiates through full-category coverage, damage protection, and a pure subscription ethos rather than lease-to-own financing structures.
