View all →Amazon’s Logistics Expansion Creates New Fulfillment Options for Ecommerce Sellers Amazon has launched Amazon Supply Chain Services (ASCS), opening its freight, warehousing, fulfillment, and parcel delivery network to businesses of all sizes, including companies that do not sell on Amazon. The move expands Amazon’s logistics operations beyond its marketplace ecosystem and positions the company more directly against carriers and third-party logistics providers such as UPS, FedEx, and DHL. According to Amazon, the new service gives businesses access to the same infrastructure Amazon built to support its own ecommerce operations over the past two decades. ASCS includes freight transportation, inventory distribution, fulfillment, parcel delivery, and returns management. Early users include Procter & Gamble, 3M, Lands’ End, and American Eagle Outfitters. For ecommerce sellers, the announcement reflects how quickly fulfillment and logistics are evolving. Ecommerce Sellers Using Stocky Have Just Over Three Months to Replace Inventory Planning Tools The Stocky Shopify app is set to shut down on August 31, 2026, leaving ecommerce sellers with just over three months to transition to a new inventory planning solution. Shopify has already removed Stocky from its App Store and, once the shutdown date arrives, the app and its APIs will stop functioning entirely. Temporary read-only access will be available for a limited time to support data retrieval. Stocky has played a central role for many sellers, supporting demand forecasting, purchase orders (POs), supplier tracking, and inventory reporting. Its removal may disrupt how businesses plan inventory, automate replenishment, and manage purchasing workflows. For ecommerce sellers, the timeline creates a clear operational risk. Without a replacement in place, forecasting accuracy, stock availability, and purchasing efficienc

Inventory Forecasting Tops the List of Ecommerce Challenges As ecommerce businesses head into 2026, one challenge is rising above the rest: inventory forecasting. Zaeem Batavia, VP of Sales Ecommerce at Descartes, shared that the issue is showing up consistently in customer conversations. Descartes onboards hundreds of ecommerce businesses every year, and approximately 75% say advanced forecasting is either a top priority today or will be within the next three months . A key reason is that sales events are no longer limited to the holiday season. Brands now run promotions “five, six, seven times a year,” said Batavia, putting pressure on already complex operations, particularly inventory forecasting. Furthermore, many are still relying on spreadsheets and manual processes that “just don’t scale.” Getting forecasting wrong can quickly hurt margins. Too much inventory ties up cash and leads to discounting. Too little inventory means lost sales and unhappy customers. According to Batavia,
Temu Matches Amazon in Cross-Border Ecommerce Sales, Survey Finds Nearly one in four consumers made their most recent cross-border ecommerce purchase on Temu, putting the marketplace level with Amazon at 24%. The finding highlights how quickly the competitive landscape for cross-border selling is shifting. The data comes from the International Post Corporation ’s Cross-Border E-Commerce Shopper Survey 2025 , which surveyed 30,970 online shoppers across 37 countries. The study includes responses from consumers in Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific, and focuses on recent cross-border purchasing behavior. Fieldwork was conducted in September 2025. Temu launched in the U.S. in 2022 and expanded rapidly into Europe and other global markets in 2023. In 2022, the platform had virtually no presence in the survey results but, in just three years, its share of cross-border purchases rose from 1% to 24%.&
Ecommerce Businesses Mitigate Retail Fraud with Returns Management Strategy During the 2025 holiday season, U.S. ecommerce and retail spending reached an estimated $250 billion, according to Adobe’s 2025 Holiday Shopping Recap report . Out of those purchases, approximately 14% were returned to merchants, according to an article by Digital Commerce 360. Holiday season returns often lead to significant financial and operational pressure for retailers, particularly as fraud becomes more frequent and more sophisticated. Descartes Enterprise Account Manager, Troy Graham, shared an inside perspective on current returns management challenges and ways customers cope with fraud. According to Graham, return fraud is no longer limited to occasional misuse. Retailers are reporting increasingly creative schemes, including boxes returned with sand, pennies, or completely different ite
As Operational Costs Climb, Retailers Must React to Changing Ecommerce Behavior Fewer U.S. consumers are shopping online every day, signaling a potential shift in ecommerce behavior after years of rapid digital growth. According to reporting by Retail Dive , the share of U.S. consumers who shop online daily has declined 12% from last year , reflecting a normalization of buying habits as economic pressures mount. Despite the slowdown in daily frequency, overall U.S. ecommerce sales continue to grow year over year. The shift highlights a change in behavior rather than a collapse in demand. Consumers are placing fewer orders but thinking more carefully about each one they do place. In the U.K., ecommerce remains a major force, accounting for roughly 28% of total retail sales in recent years , according to a report by K2 Partners . However, the same report notes that ris
Ecommerce Sellers Face Margin Pressure on Inventory as Tariffs and Shipping Costs Surge Tariff volatility and rising fuel prices are rapidly increasing shipping costs for ecommerce sellers, creating new urgency around protecting margins. With global trade conditions shifting and carrier rates fluctuating, businesses are being forced to reevaluate both their cost structures and revenue strategies. “The main issue that a lot of our customers are seeing is the increased cost of shipping and increased cost of tariffs,” says Gary Basko, Senior Account Executive at Descartes. “Making sure that they are optimizing every dollar that is spent and every dollar that is coming into the business is becoming ever more urgent.” The challenge is not just higher expenses, but unpredictability. A product that costs one amount to source today may carry significantly different landed costs tomorrow once duties, freight, and fuel surcharges are factored in. Without accurate&
As Ecommerce Approaches 30% of US Retail, Unified Systems Become Essential for Inventory Accuracy and Fulfillment Forrester ’s latest US Retail E-Commerce Forecast projects total US retail sales will reach $6.2 trillion by 2030, up from $5.2 trillion in 2025. Ecommerce sales are expected to grow to $1.8 trillion, accounting for 29% of total retail sales, while in-store sales will remain dominant at $4.4 trillion, or 71% of total sales. Despite tariff uncertainty in early 2025, retail sales remained resilient. Stable inflation and interest rates, low unemployment, and wage growth above inflation supported consumer spending. However, growth is uneven. Higher-income households are driving gains, supported by stock market growth and rising home equity, while lower-income consumers remain focused on essentials. Ecommerce growth is expected to be fueled by more Gen Z consumers entering the workforce, continued logistics&
